Road to Freedom Begins @ Schools

Aakkam’ s Schools Project is dedicated to the revitalization of underprivileged schools, with a focus on creating an enriched educational environment that fosters the growth and development of children. Our dedicated team of school identification experts work closely with the respective school Headmasters (HM) to assess their fundamental needs.

About me:

Hi, my name is Rithika Pendurthi and I am one of the members of the AAKKAM USA team! I have been involved in community service for a long time, from volunteering in local places to teaching piano. AAKKAM has specifically inspired me through their goal of creating next generation leaders. Because of this nonprofit, I have been able to work on podcasts, learn about grant research, and develop meaningful projects to give back to my community.

Why I designed Aakkam Schools

Every child we reach through this project represents a spark of potential, a mind ready to explore the wonders of the world. My commitment is to nurture these sparks, to provide the guidance, resources, and support each child needs to thrive. This project isn’t just about teaching—it’s about believing in the possibilities that education unlocks for every child, regardless of their background or circumstances.

They face challenges that many of us cannot imagine, yet they show up every day, eager to learn, eager to grow. It is their determination that fuels my passion for this work. I am inspired by their stories, their progress, and the bright futures that lies ahead of them. This project is more than an initiative; it is a mission to make a difference, to be a source of hope and encouragement for every child we serve.

Objectives

Budget Planning

Through a careful evaluation, we categorize requirements based on children's needs, classroom resources, and office supplies. Our primary focus is on essentials that directly impact students’ well-being and education. We allocate resources within a budget of Rs. 50,000, allowing a 10% flexibility for urgent cases, excluding transport costs.

Infrastructure Upgrades

Our commitment to school improvements includes providing vital amenities such as stationery, furniture, water purifiers, and sports equipment. We also address structural repairs like roof leaks, hygiene enhancements with additional toilets, and flooring fixes to foster a safe and supportive learning environment.

Educational Empowerment

At Aakkam, our Schools Project is dedicated to uplifting underprivileged schools. By providing resources and revitalizing learning spaces, we aim to inspire and nurture every child's growth, working together to shape a more promising future for all.

Artistic Transformation

Recognizing the impact of a visually engaging space, we collaborate with NGOs like Pattampoochigal and Thoorigai Thuligal to paint and transform school environments. Through these partnerships, we supply materials needed to create cheerful, inspiring spaces that enhance students' learning experiences.

Vision Statement

Transforming Learning Spaces, Igniting Futures: Aakkam's Schools Project envisions a world where every underprivileged school becomes a beacon of inspiration, fostering an enriched educational environment that empowers children to realize their full potential. We strive to create vibrant, safe, and conducive spaces that nurture a love for learning and lay the foundation for a brighter future.

Our Mission

Aakkam Foundation empowers high school and college students to become impactful changemakers by providing them with opportunities to lead community-driven projects. Through hands-on mentorship and interdisciplinary experience, we guide young leaders in turning their ideas into reality, fostering personal growth, professional success, and a deeper sense of purpose and fulfillment.
