With the invaluable support of Mrs. R. Chitra Devi, the School Headmaster, Aakkam Foundation successfully conducted an eye camp for 293 children, identifying 29 with potential refractive errors. These children will receive free eyeglasses if their parents choose to have them further tested to confirm the need. The event was a great success, with students eagerly welcoming our team, and the headmaster graciously expressing her appreciation. Aakkam Foundation sincerely thanks the headmaster and school management for this opportunity. Our team cherished the time spent with the students.

Why I Chose Aakkam?
I was born in a rural area of Tamil Nadu, close to Coimbatore, without access to essential services like transportation, education, or other necessities of life. I am fortunate to have a maternal uncle who inspired and supported me in my studies, and many of my friends also contributed financially and morally to the completion of my engineering degree. While my hometown hamlet has made some progress, many other small villages still lack the most basic amenities, particularly in the area of education. This encouraged me to participate actively in the Aakkam foundation. The major goal is to provide every child with basic needs through Aakkam schools in rural Tamil Nadu and around the world which can help future generations to live in a better world.

Why I Chose Aakkam?
As the famous proverb goes “It needs a village to raise a child”, and Aakkam provides me the oppurtunity to allow me to help the community that played a role in who I am today. Giving your time, knowledge, and/or money to help create a positive change to others life that helps build stronger community provides me immense joy and fulfills the meaning of life.
