About me:
I am a dedicated IT professional, developing and deploying innovative solutions within the tech industry. In addition to my work in IT, I am passionate about making a difference in my community. I have the privilege of volunteering with a foundation focused on empowering children through education. Leading a school project within this foundation, I strive to bridge the gap between technology and education, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.
Through Aakkam, I am committed to create an environment where learning is not just a task, but a joy—where every child feels valued, supported, and capable of achieving their dreams. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to lead this effort, and I am driven by the belief that through education, we can change lives. Why I designed Aakkam Schools:
Every child we reach through this project represents a spark of potential, a mind ready to explore the wonders of the world. My commitment is to nurture these sparks, to provide the guidance, resources, and support each child needs to thrive. This project isn’t just about teaching—it’s about believing in the possibilities that education unlocks for every child, regardless of their background or circumstances.
They face challenges that many of us cannot imagine, yet they show up every day, eager to learn, eager to grow. It is their determination that fuels my passion for this work. I am inspired by their stories, their progress, and the bright futures that lies ahead of them. This project is more than an initiative; it is a mission to make a difference, to be a source of hope and encouragement for every child we serve.
Objectives:
Through a comprehensive evaluation process, we carefully categorize the requirements based on the specific needs of the children, the essential classroom resources, and necessary office supplies. Our priority is to address the needs that directly impact the well-being and education of the students. We meticulously allocate resources within the school’s budget, ensuring that it does not exceed Rs. 50,000, excluding transportation costs. In exceptional circumstances, where the urgency demands, we allow for a 10% tolerance above the allocated budget.
Our commitment to comprehensive school improvements encompasses a wide range of initiatives. We procure essential amenities including children’s stationery, chairs, tables, water purifiers, sports equipment, computers, printers, and more. Additionally, we also have plans to rectify structural issues like leaking roofs, enhance hygiene by installing additional toilets, and improving the overall infrastructure such as fixing flooring as we aim to create a safe and conducive learning environment.
Among our top priorities is the transformational power of art and colors. Recognizing the impact of a visually stimulating environment on children’s well-being, we have established partnerships with “Pattampoochigal” and “Thoorigai Thuligal,” esteemed NGOs specializing in school painting. Through these collaborations, we ensure the provision of all necessary materials, enabling these organizations to artistically transform the schools, evoking a refreshing and cheerful ambiance.
